Our Professors

Bob Marsh

Bob is a graduate of Baylor University (BA) and majored in history and Biblical Studies. His post graduate studies were at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he earned two Masters and a Doctorate degree. He has an honorary Doctorate of Divinity degree from Mercer University, where4 he served as a trustee. He and his wife Myra have been married for 61 years. They have one son, Charles, who is a professor at the University of Virginia and director of The Project on Lived Theology.

For the past 21 years, Bob and Myra have been involved in mission ministries in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. They have served international churches in Germany, Denmark, Austria, and France. They have worked with evangelical mission organizations such as Wycliffe Translators, Pioneer Missions, World Vision, International Team, and Campus Crusade. They are involved in Bible conferences, marriage retreats, and counseling ministries in addition to being pastor of international churches. During the past year they served the international churches of Berlin and Oberursel, Germany.

Jim Phillips

James L. “Jim” Phillips, Jr. is a native of Atlanta. He attended Druid Hills Elementary and High School and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1967 with a BBA degree. After serving as a 2nd and 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army for two years, he earned his MBA from Georgia State. He entered the life insurance business in 1970 and soon thereafter married his wife, Sally. They have two children and five grandchildren.

Jim became a Christian in 1973. He has held many leadership positions in his church life, including teaching adult Sunday School classes for many years and serving as the Chair of the Board of his previous church. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Desire Street Ministries.

Marbury Rainer

Marbury is a graduate of the University of Alabama and Harvard Law School. He is a founding partner of the firm Parker, Hudson, Rainer & Dobbs. He is Chair of the President’s Cabinet of the University of Alabama, a Merit Key Recipient of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, a former Director of Meritas Law Firms Worldwide and a Director of The Georgia Justice Project. He is also on the Board of Directors for Atlanta Community Ministries (ACM), and serves as Team Leader of ACM’s Men’s Ministry.

He served as Deacon Chair for his former church and has taught adult Sunday School classes for many years. He is also a guest instructor for a class taught at the UGA Business School entitled “Lessons in Leadership”. He and his wife Kathy have two married grown sons, two wonderful daughters-in-law and, so far, 2 grandchildren.

Ryland Scott

Ryland has lived in Atlanta for over 75 years. He graduated from Westminster and  Georgia Tech. He is retired and has been married to his wife, Carol, for over 55 years. They have two children, Amy & Ryland, and six grandchildren.

Ryland founded Sonrise Breakfast in 1976 to bring God’s word to business men in Atlanta. He was a deacon at a previous church and was previously on the board of Walk Thru the Bible Ministries.
